Restaurant Review #81: Palm-a-Bagel (Kennett Square, PA)

This is going to be a quick one. I don’t even have a picture of my own. Just a shout-out to Palm-a-Bagel, which is located in the shopping center across US 1 from the Hilton Garden Inn of Kennett Square. We ate there before heading to Longwood Gardens. Bagels were as good as you would find anywhere in New York or New Jersey—and that says a lot. It’s tiny, and you could tell most customers are regulars. The owner greeted several people by name while we were there and a family of four played cards at one of the tables. Two buttered bagels and a coffee came to $5 even. You can’t beat that, especially when on vacation. Palm-a-Bagel is a nice alternative to a pricier, larger hotel breakfast and it’s always better to give your money to a small business than the WaWa, Wendy’s, or Taco Bell in the area for breakfast. They had a sign on the counter that read, “No cell phones while ordering”. Starbucks clientele take note. 3.5 out of 5 stars (which is a good rating for a bagel place).

  1. Wow! I love local places. They’re so much better, especially the atmosphere. This really reminds me of going to places where there aren’t any tourists and how you experience what it’s really like in the area. From http:/observe the sphere.wordpress.com
