Homemade pizza. I gave up on this a while ago, because my pizzas always came out looking like footballs and having the consistency of a cardboard box. Maybe it was the different treatment of the dough tonight, but the pizza actually came out like pizza. One with half mushroom, half meatball, and the other a…

An Oktoberfest dinner we had two weeks ago. There was chicken schnitzel, mushroom gravy, spaetzel, and German potato salad. Non-German dishes included my mom’s spinach pie, rolls, and my homemade garlic butter. There was also mom’s German apple cake for dessert. Oh, and plenty of Riesling. What a spread it was!

Last week, my chef friend Walter (featured on this blog here and here and maybe a few other places) went all out to whip up the following meal on Sandy Hook. He had said a week earlier that he wanted to have my mom, Justin, and I for stir-fry on the beach. However, he ended…

Restaurant Review: Procopio’s (Denver, PA)

Any restaurant that has a tater tot menu is okay in my book. These are the Chicken Picatta tots at JJ Bitting’s in Woodbridge.

Wall’s Legendary Circus Drive-In Demolished

The legendary drive-in restaurant in Wall, NJ known as The Circus stood for 64 years…and took only 20 minutes to be torn down this very day. The pictures and news are in. It was noted by even the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office, how sad such a moment this is. I do not have any…

Another one from Portuguese Manor. The appetizer sampler with stuffed clams, stuffed mushrooms, and bacon-wrapped scallops.

Smothered Chicken. I tried to mimic the dish I used to get at the old Poet’s Inn in Matawan. Grilled chicken covered with onions, mushrooms, provolone cheese, and thrown under the broiler.
