I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween to the fullest extent that COVID considerations will allow. This skull seen here was photographed at Fonthill Castle in Doylestown, PA. While the outside may resemble Dracula’s Castle, the interior is far less sinister and contains a vast collection of artwork and pottery designed by the building’s founder Henry Mercer. Many wealthy people such as he would have owned a skull in the late Victorian and early Edwardian Eras. Such a specimen likely came from a medical school following a dissection…or so we can hope!
