Kunya Siam Rings in Thai New Year on April 14

One of the most anticipated culinary events in Atlantic Highlands every year is Kunya Siam’s Thai New Year celebration. I have helped out at the festivities in various capacities four or five times now. For 2019, there will be three seatings (all sold out—waiting list available) beginning at 3 PM on Sunday, April 14. While the prix fixe menu has not yet been released, last year’s was like a “Greatest Hits” selection which included salad, appetizers, curry shrimp, short ribs, and the extremely poplar coffee duck. The evening is then capped off with a traditional Thai dance performance and dessert. The restaurant is willing to work with diners who have dietary restrictions.

I have previously fully reviewed Kunya Siam and last year shared my experiences of Thai New Year. When I first started, there was only one seating. It then moved on to two, and finally two nights with two seatings each. This year features three seatings, and as with all previous years, they are already sold out. There is, however, a waiting list. You can call the restaurant at 732-291-2397 to be placed on the list and also inquire about pricing and seating times. The cost for last year’s was a more-than-reasonable $39.95 per person. An outrageous deal when you consider the cuisine that was served. The event is BYOB.

Are you coming to the celebration Sunday? We look forward to seeing you!
