I was searching for a recipe for a good pumpkin spice martini. One by one, most of the recipes called for multiple cream liquors and even flavored vodkas. I thought that was ridiculous and that I could achieve a desired flavor with minimal ingredients. According to my two taste-testers, I succeeded, and present you with my recipe for a simple Pumpkin Pie Martini.
Take four ounces of Fulton’s Harvest Pumpkin Pie Liqueur, one ounce of vodka, and a splash of Liquor 43 and shake vigorously with ice. Strain into a martini glass. Dust the top with cinnamon and nutmeg. Do not stir. That’s it.
What you will have is a taste of fall. The Fulton’s Harvest is quite pleasant and is not overbearing with spices. There is nothing artificial about it. In fact, it is a little too understated which is why I added the dusting of spices on top—that is not just for garnish. The vodka is there to give it a little extra kick. Rather than go crazy with a vanilla vodka or Bailey’s Irish Cream, I chose to go with Licor 43. This adds sweetness to counteract the vodka and a hint of vanilla. I guarantee you this martini has much fewer calories than the others you will find online.
Sip before or after a meal. It happens to pair quite well with a horror movie on a crisp fall day. Enjoy and let me know how you like it!
