In addition to my friend Hunter Dillon and his “Casual Crusades” guest column, I am bringing in the husband-wife duo of Gordon Bond and Stephanie Hoagland for something new. They are going to be tackling a guest column of their own, titled “Fermented Musings”. In it, they will focus on liquor reviews, cocktail recipes, and boozy history. I have known them for nearly five years, and both are extremely intelligent individuals who are highly qualified in their craft. Gordon is a five-times published author and historian, while Stephanie is an architectural historian who has traveled the world doing what she loves. I am thrilled to have them aboard and am super-excited to see their posts. Below are their bios:
Gordon Bond is a NJ native with a passion for Garden State history…and finding a good single malt scotch. In 2008, he founded Garden State Legacy, a free online quarterly NJ history magazine and resources website. He has written five books and numerous articles on a wide variety of NJ history.
Stephanie M. Hoagland is a transplant to New Jersey from Washington State. She is an architectural historian and conservator who has worked throughout the U.S. and Canada doing everything from paint and mortar analysis to cemetery restoration. She is a Professional Associate of the (AIC) and is a past Chair of the Architecture Specialty Group of the AIC. After primarily enjoying gin, she has discovered the joys of bourbon and a well-made Sidecar.
